Chinese established power generation capacity increases 9.5 pct in 1st 8 months


(MENAFN) The National Energy Administration said that China's established power generation capacity surged 9.5 percent year over year in the January-August period to 2.28 billion kilowatts.

Particularly, the established capacity of wind power soared 33.8 percent year over year to around 300 million kilowatts, while that of solar power climbed 24.6 percent hitting 280 million kilowatts.

The government's figures also demonstrated that China's power use, a major indicator of economic activity, came to 5.5 trillion kWh in the cited period, a rise 13.8 percent year over year.

The country has declared that it will try hard to peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and accomplish carbon neutrality by 2060.
