China: Police arrest 53 involved in cross-frontier online gambling in Anhui


(MENAFN) A number of 53 suspects have been detained for participating in a cross-frontier online gambling case engaging a turnover of 360 million yuan (around USD55.8 million), according to police in east China's Anhui Province.

They saw a local man who was engaged in cross-frontier online gambling activities in the past July, said the police in Shucheng County under Lu'an City. A probe discovered the man had been marketing the gambling platform since last May. The platform had drawn more than 8,000 gamblers in three months.

The police started detaining suspects from last October and 53 were nabbed staring July. Amongst them, 46 have up to now been sentenced to prison terms vary from eight months to five years at the Shucheng County People's Court on charges of opening casinos and fraud.
