K-pop sensation BTS to speak and perform at UN meet

Doha: The K-pop sensation BTS is traveling to New York as South Korea's special envoys for the annual United Nations General Assembly, which will be held in-person after going all-virtual in 2020. 

The group is scheduled to attend the opening ceremony for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Moment of the Decade of Action event in New York on Monday, along with South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

On Saturday,“have a safe flight” trended on Twitter as airport photos of members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook surfaced online.

According to South Korean media reports the president appointed the seven-member group as a "special presidential envoy for future generations and culture".
