Three Qatari cueists advance at Six-red World Championship


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: Brothers Ali and Muhanna Al Obaidly besides Bashar Hussein yesterday qualified for the Second Round of the Six-red World Championship for singles in Doha yesterday. 

Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation is hosting the event, with 55 cueists representing 29 countries, taking part in the event.

Yesterday, Muhanna achieved his second win after defeating Jordan's Fawaz Al Helo (5-4) after a tough fight in Group 1. Muhanna won his first match against Lebanon's Roy Abi Nader (5-0). He now faces a difficult match against Iran's Amir Sarkhosh, the runner-up at the Asian Championship, to lead the group.

In Group 2,  Ali qualified for the second round after defeating his Mongolian rival (5-2). Ali has earlier won the game against his Iranian opponent 5-4, and still have an easy match against Yemen's Ahmed Jahman in the third round, after which he may lead the group and compete for one of the cards that automatically qualifies for the Round of 16.

Meanwhile, Bashar Hussein qualified for the second round after winning against an Irish rival 5-3 in Group 5.
