Turkey intends to finish 1st unit of nuclear power plant by 2023


(MENAFN) As said by Turkish president, the first unit of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant is going to be finished in May 2023.

Erdogan referred to the nuclear energy vital for Turkey’s future, this was during a mass launching ceremony in the southern Mersin region.

He added "I would like to congratulate those who contributed to the acquisition and construction of this strategic investment in Akkuyu", and Turkey intends to construct further power plants.

Turkey as well as Russia inked agreed to build the Akkuyu nuclear power plant on May 12, 2010, as Turkey's first nuclear power plant is going to contain four reactors including a sum installed power of 4,800 megawatts.
