Somalia: Presidential candidates slam president to suspend prime minister’s powers

(MENAFN) Presidential candidates slammed a move by the president ahead of elections in Somalia, to potpone the prime minister’s powers, further raising a political crisis in the country.

The move by Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed to cut off the prime minister's powers is considered a violation of the Somali constitution.

The president “trampled on the country’s constitution and lied about its provisions” when he potponed the powers of the prime minister, the candidates said.

There were "no working relations between the president and the prime minister," the presidency declared.
