Srinagar Open Tennis Championship 2021 Enters Finals Stage

SRINAGAR: Moazzam Rashid, Haider Hussain, Inayat Jehangir and Asif Nowsheri on Friday qualified for the semifinals of the ongoing Srinagar Open Tennis Championship 2021 being held at the Gindun Sports Complex, Rajbagh here.

Three of the semifinalists won their matches in straight sets, with Moazzam (vs Rouf Mir), Asif (vs Tahafuz Illahi) and Inayat (vs Jamil Mir) defeating their opponents by identical scoreline of 6-0, 6-2. Meanwhile, Haider beat Mudasir 6-3, 6-1.

The singles semifinals will be played on Saturday at 3:30 PM. The final of the tournament is scheduled to be played on Sunday.

The Doubles event of the Championship has also reached its semifinal stage, and will see the teams of Moazzam and Haider take on Jamil and Tahafuz in the first semifinal, while Tufail Bhat and Inayat will take on Danish and Wahab in the second. The final will be played on Sunday, as well.

The Srinagar Open Tennis Championship 2021 is being organised by District Lawn Tennis Association, Srinagar.

Sixty round-robin matches were played in both singles and doubles events with two top teams or players qualifying for the knock out stages.
