Yemen: 45 dead as clashes aggravate in al-Bayda


(MENAFN) A military official said to Xinhua that on Thursday, Sep. 16 clashes has aggravated in the Yemeni central province of al-Bayda as the Houthi militia kept gaining on-ground military progress.

The local military source stated on condition of remaining anonymous: "the Houthis expanded their military campaign after seizing key areas from the government forces in al-Bayda province following ferocious battles."

He noted that in the last 24 hours, almost 25 members of the Houthi rebel and over 20 soldiers of the government forces died in al-Bayda's clashes.

He further said: "the Houthi militia began planning to achieve other military gains through advancing into the areas of the neighboring government-controlled province of Abyan."
