Chinese Pres. warns of outside interference in countries' internal affairs


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIJING, Sept 17 (KUNA) - Chinese President Xi Jinping warned Friday against any outside interference in the region countries' internal affairs under any pretext.
This came in a speech delivered by President Xi at the 21st meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), chaired by Tajikistan.
The Chinese president said that the SCO members should enhance dialogue, communication and coordination, respect each other's legitimate concerns and solve problems that may arise and affect the cooperation of the organization.
He stressed the need to enhance cooperation on helping Afghanistan and a smooth transition in the country, stressing the importance of making efforts to push Afghanistan to build a comprehensive political framework, adopting moderate internal and external policies, and resolutely combating all forms of terrorism.
He also noted that the SCO has begun the procedures for accepting Iran as a member of the organization, and Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Qatar as new partners in the dialogue with the regional organization.
The SCO was established in 2001 and includes Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, India, Pakistan and Uzbekistan, while Belarus, Iran, Mongolia and Afghanistan have observer status. (end)
