Katara to launch conference on cultural tourism in December


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, announced the launch of its first conference in the field of cultural tourism from December 7 to 9.

Katara is considered the number one cultural tourism destination in Qatar, as it allows visitors to learn about the cultures of the world through its multiple cultural facilities, such as theatres, concert halls, and art and heritage galleries.

Katara has been a leader in the field of various cultural activities through holding festivals and exhibitions throughout the year, awards and competitions.



This was reflected in a significant increase in the number of visitors to the village, reaching more than 10 million in 2019, including tourist groups that come specifically to visit the cultural and civilizational landmarks in the country.
General Manager of Cultural Village Foundation Professor Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, stressed that the richness of Qatari culture and the diversity of the heritage have enabled Qatar to occupy an advanced position in the field of cultural tourism in the Arab Gulf region.

He said that cultural tourism has become the most common all over the world, according to reports from international organisations.

Dr. Al Sulaiti said that the first Katara conference on cultural tourism comes within the framework of contributing to the development of cultural tourism in Qatar, upgrading it and rehabilitating those working in this field, adding that the conference also aims at mobilising energies to promote and market the cultural tourism product in Qatar, as it is the ideal model that reflects the nature of the Qatari people in their acceptance and openness to others, respect for their customs, traditions and beliefs, and the openness of the State's cultural institutions to peoples.
