Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has marked International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.
On the occasion, Kahramaa launched a week long awareness activities through the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed) at Kahramaa Awareness Park (KAP).
President of Kahramaa Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari yesterday inaugurated the activities that will extend until September 23. Al Kuwari praised the importance of these events to maintain a healthy environment, expressing his hope that everyone would contribute to preserve the environment.
“At Kahramaa, we believe in the need to continue collective action to protect nature and preserve the environment. We are continuing to make all possible efforts to raise awareness of the issues of climate change and global warming, with the aim of reducing carbon emissions to reach a more sustainable future, in which we guarantee a better life for future generations in our dear homeland,” said Al Kuwari.
Kahramaa spares no effort to achieve the goals of sustainability and comprehensive development set by Qatar National Vision 2030 in economic and social development and environmental protection.
This is in line with Qatar's support for a future free of carbon emissions, by enabling all initiatives and promoting environmental and climate action locally and globally to reduce the carbon footprint and reduce the problem of global warming.
Qatar has made great strides in this regard, and the biggest example of this success is the organization of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 as the first carbon-neutral edition in the history of the tournament.
With the launch of the Tarsheed programme in 2012 under the patronage of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the programme has made great achievements in spreading the culture of rationalization and raising the level of societal awareness in issues of environmental protection and sustainability.
