G7 ambassadors say they heard Ukraine's commitment to deliver High Council of Justice reform

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The reform of the High Council of Justice is a historic opportunity for Ukraine to create an effective and honest judicial system, G7 ambassadors have said.

According to Ukrinform, they announced this on Twitter following a meeting held at the Ukrainian President's Office on September 16.

"G7 Ambassadors were pleased to join today's constructive dialogue with government, parliament, & judiciary on reforming the High Council of Justice, hosted by the Ukrainian President's Office. Ambassadors heard from all parties, including the unanimous Ukraine commitment to delivering HCJ reform," the tweet reads.

The ambassadors underscored international support for reforming the HCJ in line with the laws passed by the Verkhovna Rada in July, including the provision of high-quality international experts for the HCJ Ethics Council, to work alongside their Ukrainian counterparts once nominated.

"HCJ reform is a historic opportunity to deliver the effective, honest judiciary that Ukrainians demand and deserve. Ambassadors called upon the Council of Judges and all Ukrainian partners to ensure the swift nomination of experts to join the HCJ Ethics Council.," the ambassadors said.

The President's Office on September 16 hosted a working meeting to discuss the implementation of laws on reinstating the work of the High Qualification Commission of Judges and on the procedure for selecting members of the High Council of Justice.
