EU's top official charges Belarus to start hybrid attack to destabilize Europe

(MENAFN) The EU's top official Ursula von der Leyen charged Belarus of starting a hybrid attack to destabilize Europe by inviting migrants and enter them to Europe.

The European Parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg quoted the president of the European Commission during her State of the Union speech as saying that “The regime in Minsk has instrumentalized human beings. They have put people on planes and literally pushed them towards Europe's borders.”

She further declared that “Let’s call it what it is: this is a hybrid attack to destabilize Europe,” showing support for Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland and strongly declining such behavior.

In addition, the official called on EU member states to adopt the legislative package on migration and asylum that the European Commission suggested last September.
