(MENAFN) A senior official has stated that on Tuesday, Sep. 14 Uganda, France and the United Nations (UN) inked a deal to shore up the UN Academy for Peace Operations.
The academy, located in Entebbe, 40 km south of the Ugandan capital Kampala, would be employed to provide training for UN peacekeepers to utilize unmanned aerial systems for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance in UN peace keeping drives duties, Adonia Ayebare, the Ugandan permanent representative at the UN said on Twitter.
The training will be backed by Uganda’s military and the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, the nation’s air transportation supervisor.
Ayebare noted: "we look to further cooperation with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Operational Support and French government on the use of digital technology in peace keeping operations."
