(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Sep. 15 (Petra) -- Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Nasser Shraideh has briefed the ambassadors of several donor countries and representatives of development agencies on the government's economic priorities program for the years 2021-2023, aimed to support economic growth and help the country recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a statement on Wednesday, the minister pointed that the government's economic program include three pillars and 53 priorities, focusing on enhancing the investment and doing business climate, stepping up competitiveness, stimulating the private sector and supporting priority economic sectors.
"The government has clearly set out its priorities, going around reform to improve Jordan's economic competitiveness and implement the projects devised to stimulate the economy, mainly the mega-projects and the public-private partnership projects like the National Water Carrier and the National Railway," Shraideh said.
The government's priorities program, he added, will undergo an assessment every six to nine months to address the main challenges that face the national economy, noting that each priority has an action plan, targets and stages of achievement, as well as specifications for the implementing agencies and financial allocations.
The minister expressed appreciation for the donor countries' continued support to Jordan's development process, and at the same time enable it bear the burden of hosting the Syrian refugees.
