Chinese retail trade surges 2.5 pct during August


(MENAFN) On Wednesday, Sep. 15 figures from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) demonstrated that the Chinese retail trade of consumer commodities surged 2.5 percent year over year last month.

According to figures from the NBS, China’s retail trade of consumer commodities came to about 3.44 trillion yuan (around USD533 billion) in the past month.

Retail trade during the past month was higher by 3 percent from the level in the same month of 2019. The two-year average expansion stood at 1.5 percent.

The NBS said that during the first eight months of 2021, retail trade added 18.1 percent year over year and soared 8 percent from the very period in 2019.
