(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) Dhaka: India has now made a new air travel bubble arrangement with Sri Lanka. The Aviation Ministry of India in a tweet stated, "India has finalised an air bubble agreement with Sri Lanka, making it the sixth such arrangement in SAARC region and 28th in total.”
“All eligible passengers will be able to travel between the two countries in the near future,” the statement added.
As of yet, India has arrangements with about 27 countries, including Bangladesh, the USA, Afghanistan, Bhutan, France, Canada, Iraq, Germany, Kenya, Japan, Nepal, the Netherlands, Oman, Nigeria, Qatar, the UK, and the UAE.
Currently, India is not operating schedule international passenger flights due to the coronavirus pandemic. The country recently extended the ban on international flights till April 30, which is likely be extended further amid the resurgence of the new coronavirus strain globally.
However, special international passenger flights are being operated under the Vande Bharat Mission to and from India since May last year, and under bilateral air bubble arrangements since July.
