Uganda: 3 die in building collapse in Kampala, scores still stuck under rubble


(MENAFN) A humanitarian agency stated that on Sunday, Sep. 5 three persons have lost their lives and scores are still stuck under rubble after a building construction location collapsed in the Ugandan capital, Kampala.

Three dead bodies have up to now been recovered from rubble after a building under establishment in Kisenyi, downtown Kampala area crumpled and went down, stated Irene Nakasiita, spokeswoman for Uganda Red Cross Society in a report.

The spokesperson noted: "another body has been recovered. This brings the number of dead people so far to three. Extrication process (is) under way for people stuck under the debris."

The humanitarian agency stated that scores of persons as a minimum are still suspected to be stuck under the rubble.
