President of Qatar Swimming Association Khalil Al Jaber expressed his happiness with the great success achieved by the 28th edition of the GCC Aquatic Championships, which concluded on Sunday in Doha.

Al Jaber said that the championship witnessed good technical levels in the three sports - swimming, diving and water polo, noting that the greatest success is the return of the Gulf championships after the competitions stopped for nearly two years due to the coronavirus pandemic, in addition to the participation of all six GCC countries in this tournament edition.

The President of Qatar Swimming Association praised the results achieved by the Qatari swimmers in the tournament and said that the Qatari team continued its domination of the Gulf title at the level of the age groups after winning 30 gold medals for the first time in the history of its participation in the Gulf championship, in addition to maintaining the second place in the general stages, despite the small number of swimmers. He noted that these results reflect the development of the Qatari swimmers' levels, thanks to the great efforts made by them, the administrative and technical bodies, and the work carried out by the Board of Directors of Qatar Swimming Association.

Al Jaber extended thanks and appreciation to all committees working in the championship for their great efforts in order to bring out the tournament in the best possible way; considering the praise by the participating delegations of the organizational aspects as a new testimony of the excellence of Qatar's organization of all sporting events and tournaments held in Doha, the capital of world sports.

For his part, Qatari swimmer Abdulaziz Al Obaidli expressed delight with winning the gold in the 200m breaststroke, noting that this medal is his first gold medal at the level of the general stages, which will give him motivation to achieve more medals in future participations.

Al Obaidli stressed that winning the second place in the general stages after being crowned with the title of the age groups is an achievement that confirms the strong Qatari presence in the Gulf championships.
