Qatar Airways launches flights to Zimbabwe


(MENAFN) On Friday, Aug. 6 Qatar Airways launched its inaugural flight from Doha to Harare in an attempt that is projected to enhance Zimbabwe's trade and tourism industry which has been terribly impacted by coronavirus.

Connect to Harare through the Zambian capital Lusaka three times a week, Zimbabwe and Zambia have turned into the airline's fifth and sixth routes in Africa since the outburst of the coronavirus in December 2019.

The airline's Airbus A350-900 settled in the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport mid-morning Friday and was received by senior officials from Zimbabwe’s administration and the airline.

Mangaliso Ndlovu, the Zimbabwean minister of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, stated: "the country's tourism sector has been given a shot in the arm by Qatar Airways, arguably the best airline in the world as it added destination Zimbabwe to its itinerary."
