Le Lion d’Angers, France: Two-year-old filly Joomana carried the colours of H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani to victory when taking the Prix Chateauneuf sur Sarthe at Le Lion d’Angers, France yesterday.

Trained by Henri-Alex Pantall, Joomana built on two-placed efforts at Deauville and Croan respectively, and scored a game victory, on her third start, under jockey Soufiane Saadi.

Breaking alertly from the stalls, Saadi settled Joomana just behind the early leaders through the early stages of the 1,400m contest.

With a strong pace being set by Hyptonized (Dream Ahead), Joomana had to be bustled along on occasion and still had a few lengths to find entering the home straight.

Staying on for pressure, Joomana closed strongly inside the final 200m and headed Hyptonized in the shadows of the post. Speedy Charm (Charm Spirit) also finished with a flourish and took third close home.

Bred by Haras de Victo, Joomana is by Olympic Glory (Choisir). Her dam, Scandalous (Monson) was unraced, but has now produced three winners and is a full sister to dual Listed winner Sereth (Monsun).
