Two-day National Food Systems Dialogue to begin on August 10

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: Under the auspices of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, the National Food Systems Dialogue for the State of Qatar will be held on August 10 and 11, at the Ministry’s headquarters on Corniche Street in Doha. 

This is in preparation for the World Food Summit to be held in September 2021, with the participation of the heads of member states of the United Nations.

All stakeholders in the food systems of the State of Qatar participate in the national dialogue, to discuss aspects of development of food systems and to discuss ways to overcome challenges and obstacles in accordance with the objectives of the United Nations.

The dialogue provides an opportunity for all food system stakeholders from consumers, producers, wholesalers and retailers, researchers, students and policy makers to discuss and develop the food system in Qatar.

The Organising Committee of the Dialogue invited all stakeholders to participate in the national dialogue, which is held under the slogan 'Our food system must be resilient, healthy, sustainable and resilient by 2030. How do we achieve this during the next ten years’.

The committee said that due to the follow-up of the preventive measures related to COVID-19, the number of attendees allowed for the event will be determined asking them to register in advance to participate through the registration link in the National Food Systems Dialogue on the website of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, ( 2019, the Secretary General of the United Nations called for a World Food Summit to be a platform to help develop and change global and local food systems. 

The summit will discuss the topics of climate change, health damages related to poor nutrition, and the negative impact of food production on natural resources, in addition to examining the sustainability and viability of food systems for growth. Member states have been requested to organise national food systems dialogues.
