Qatar' s Almoez Ali earns 2021 Gold Cup Top Scorer Award

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Almoez Ali of Qatar national football team earned the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup Top Scorer Award, after topping the tournament with four goals in five games.
The Gold Cup award is the second honour Almoez Ali has won at a continental tournament. The Qatari footballer was the top scorer at the AFC Asian Cup in 2019 with a record of nine goals, becoming the first player in history to be the top scorer in two continents.
Almoez is also the first player in history to score in three continental tournaments. The star scored goals in the Asian Cup, Copa America and the Concacaf Gold Cup.
Qatar impressed at this year's Concacaf Gold Cup, scoring 12 goals in five games as a guest team.
Ali's goals played a pivotal part in Qatar advancing to the Gold Cup semi-finals, with the striker scoring twice in the group stage and a brace in the 3-2 quarter-final win against El Salvador.
Qatar's brilliant run was eventually stopped by the United States, who defeated Mexico 1-0 in the final on Sunday to lift the Gold Cup for a seventh time.
Mexico's Hector Herrera won the Best Player Award with one goal and two assists in six matches, while Matt Turner was named best goalkeeper, allowing just one goals in six matches.
