China: Urban public transport witnesses increase


(MENAFN) Official data revealed that China posted increasing use of public transport in urban regions in the first six months of 2021.

According to the Ministry of Transport, in the first 6 months, the number of passenger trips using public transport in 36 main cities hit 26.52 billion, mounting 56.5 percent from a year earlier.

The number was 19.4 percent lower compared with the same period in 2019, which shows a 10.2 percent decline on average in the two-year period.

According to the ministry, the number of bus passengers augmented 41.4 percent yearly in the first half, while that of rail passengers increased to reach 83.6 percent.
