Turkey witnesses expansion in tourism


(MENAFN) According to the country’s statistical authority, on Friday, July 30, Turkey’s tourism sector income reached almost USD3 billion in the second quarter of 2021.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) stated that the number increased almost 22.5 percent from the past period.

From April-June period, 73.1percent of the profits – not including GSM roaming and marina service spending – came from foreign tourists, while the rest was from citizens living overseas.

The average spending of tourists in the three-month period reached USD739 per capita.

It added that “In this quarter, while average expenditures per night of foreigners who stayed overnight were USD64, average expenditures per night of Turkish citizens residing abroad were USD44”.
