The White House announced that the United States of America will maintain, in the current stage, the restrictions in force on international flights, due to the Corona (Covid-19) pandemic.
White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki, at a press conference, attributed this decision to a rise in infections, the Delta variant's transmissibility, which she said "The more transmissible Delta variant is spreading both here and around the world."
Rising cases "appear likely to continue in the weeks ahead," she warned, but stressed that cases in the US continue to rise, particularly among the non-vaccinated.
For more than a year, the United States banned entry to travelers from European Union countries, Britain, China and Iran, and later added to the list other countries, including Brazil and India.
In last June, the European Union lifted the ban on entry to travelers from the United States, after pressure from countries dependent on tourism, fearing a new crisis year, such as Greece, Spain and Italy.
European Union leaders demanded reciprocity from the United States. On July 15, US President Joe Biden said he would give an answer in the next few days after pleas from German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
