Jordan, Syria push for full reopening of Jaber Border Crossing


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, July 27 (Petra) -- Interior Minister Mazen al-Faraya on Tuesday told his Syrian counterpart, Muhammad Khaled al-Rahmoun, that it was necessary to fully reopen the Jaber border post, "given the strategic importance of the entry point that benefits the common interests of Jordan and Syria", according to an interior ministry statement.
In a phone conversation, the Syrian minister welcomed the full reopening of the border post, and said his country is "ready to take the necessary measures in this regard".
The two sides agreed that officials in the center will "coordinate on the ground regarding the necessary procedures for the full restart of the center, in a way that achieves the desired goals and within the approved medical protocol", the statement indicated.
