Qatar takes part in 115th Session of Permanent Council of Francophonie


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Paris: Qatar participated in the 115th Session of the Permanent Council of the Francophonie (CPF), which was held in Paris via videoconference technology and chaired by Secretary-General of the International Organization of La Francophonie H E Louise Mushikiwabo.

Qatar was represented at the session by Ambassador of Qatar to the French Republic and Qatar’s representative to the International Organization of La Francophonie H E Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al Thani.

The meeting of the Permanent Council of Francophonie discussed the political situation in the Francophone space, specifically in Chad, Mali and Cameroon, as well as the preparations related to organizing the Games of La Francophonie and Tunisia’s hosting of the 18th Francophonie Summit next November. The internal administrative and financial issues were also addressed.

Secretary-General of the International Organization of La Francophonie strongly condemned the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moise, calling for the opening of an independent investigation to uncover the circumstances of the assassination.

He addressed the current health situation and called for efforts to ensure fair and equitable access to vaccines against the emerging Coronavirus, in partnership with the European Union, the African Union and the World Health Organization.
