Dubai Municipality Honors Departments for Pioneering Awards Won in First Half of 2021


(MENAFN- Dubai PR Network) Dubai, UAE - 04, July 2021:  Dubai Municipality organized a virtual ceremony to honor its departments that won pioneering awards during the first half of this year. This comes from the Municipality’s belief in the importance of motivating employees in its various sectors to always achieve the best, and in appreciation of the outstanding efforts that were made, which resulted in the Municipality achieving the best results that qualified it to win the most prominent pioneering and global awards. 

Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said:“The Municipality's winning of these international awards reinforces the unique position that Dubai occupies in various fields and sectors, as we always strive to innovate the finest ways that contribute to achieving an exceptional leap in all projects and services of the Municipality, in line with the aspirations of the wise leadership in meeting the needs of community members and adopting creative means in a sustainable manner.” 

He added:“The Municipality's departments have succeeded in implementing strategies aimed at embodying the Municipality's vision of building a happy and sustainable city, and adhering to the values represented in competitiveness, creativity, accountability, happiness, collaboration and transparency, which contributed to impressing those in charge of global and pioneering awards.” 

The pioneering and global awards won by Dubai Municipality during the first half of this year included:
Construction Technology Award:
Dubai Municipality won the Construction Technology Award 2021 aw the digital transformation initiative in the building and construction sector won first place, using Building Information Modeling (BIM), which aims to expand the use of digital systems and modern technologies such as BIM in the Woman in Construction Technology of the Year category.
  
The Municipality also won first place for its excellence and uniqueness in the theme of the Building and Construction Using 3D Printing Technology, in the 3D Printed Construction of the Year category of the awards, through its initiative,“3D Printed Building” where the Municipality implemented an integrated two-storey building project with a height of 9.5 meters and a total area of 640 square meters by using 3D printing technology. 

Harvard Business Council Diamond Enterprise Award 2021
Dubai Municipality won the Diamond Category Project Award from the Harvard Business Council for the year 2021, which bears the status of global competitiveness, for its participation in the sewage treatment plant project in Jebel Ali – Phase 2, through the use of Artificial Intelligence in its operations, as this vital project is one of the important pillars of infrastructure in the Emirate of Dubai.

International Architecture Award:
Dubai Municipality won the first place in the International Architecture Award, in the Green Good Design category, through the car parking building project in Al Garhoud. The building was designed to be an environmentally friendly parking building, using environmentally friendly means to generate the building’s energy, where the roof of the building was used as covered car parking using solar panels.  

British Safety Council Award:
Dubai Municipality won the British Safety Council award in the International Safety Award category, and won the Distinction rating, which is the highest evaluation degree for the award category, within the health and safety system management initiative that aims to ensure the health and safety of the Municipality’s employees as well as community members. The Municipality received first place in the category of Response to Covid-19 Pandemic, and it also received a Distinction in the International Safety Award category for two projects, namely the Deep Tunnel Project for Storm Water Drainage and the Sewage System Project to Connect the Development Areas in Jebel Ali to the Dubai Municipality Network. 

International Best Practice Award (7 star rating):
Dubai Municipality won the International Award for Best Practices for the year 2021, which was held in Wellington, New Zealand. The Municipality won first place globally in the institutional innovation category for the“Innovation and Knowledge Management in Dubai Municipality” initiative, with a 7-star rating, which is the highest rating in the award. It also won award for“The Way Beyond the Standard Procedures for Contracts and Procurement” initiative as the best global model to follow, out of 68 global submissions. It received a 7-star rating in the Global Best Practices category.

APQC Award:
Dubai Municipality has achieved a global victory in the field of knowledge management, for the initiative,“Maturity Level in Knowledge Management” by obtaining the Excellence in Knowledge Management Award by the American Productivity & Quality Center (APQC), where it was ranked among the best six distinguished institutions in the world in the field of knowledge management and among the top three institutions in the world in applying the knowledge management program for the category of corporate holistic application (Enterprise-Wide). This award is given to the most distinguished institutions in the world in preparing and implementing effective programs and work mechanisms in the field of knowledge management, which positively reflect on productivity, services and the promotion of innovation principles.

CIPS Award:
Dubai Municipality won first place in the CIPS Middle East Supply Management Award in the Public Procurement category, for its initiative,“Agility in Contracts and Procurement for Lasting Value,” which aims to improve customer experience, monitor their feedback, raise satisfaction, and re-engineer and design contractual processes in line with Dubai government strategies, such as digital transformation and paperless transactions, by developing systems and reducing human interference in the implementation of operations and the provision of services. The initiative focused on reducing the time for the contractual journey with suppliers while maintaining quality and efficiency.

DuPont Safety & Sustainability Award:
Dubai Municipality received the DuPont Safety & Sustainability Award in the Sustainability category within the Global Winner classification. The award is organized by DuPont Sustainable Solutions. The Municipality’s initiative, ‘Integrated and Sustainable Program for the Reuse of Treated Water in Dubai in the Jebel Ali Wastewater Treatment Plant” won the award. The winning initiative aims to enhance sustainability standards in the field of treated water reuse.

OStar International Award:
Dubai Municipality has made a global achievement by winning the OStar International Award for the best projects in the Super Level classification, for the initiative to reuse surplus concrete produced by concrete factories in construction projects and the possibility of supplying or using it again within the controls and technical conditions of the Dubai Municipality specification. 

Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance:
Dubai Municipality has won the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance in the category of Institutions Supporting Education. The award is organized by the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance. The Municipality won the award for the initiative,“Social Responsibility Activities in the Field of Environmental Sustainability for the Education Sector”, which is considered one of the most important pioneering initiatives in the field of supporting the environmental education system and spreading sustainable environmental knowledge.

Middle East and North Africa Stevie Awards:
Dubai Municipality has won three awards within the categories of the Middle East and North Africa Stevie Awards, which highlight innovation in all its forms in various professional achievements, and the Municipality won the Gold Award in the category,“the best way to use social media to communicate information related to Covid-19” for the initiative to manage social media content during the Covid-19 period. The Municipality also won the gold award for the“innovation in media planning and management” for the marketing campaign of the FoodWatch platform, and the Municipality also won the bronze award for the“innovation in social media marketing” category for its marketing campaign initiative for the Montaji App. 

Ideas Arabia International Award: 
Dubai Municipality won the Ideas Arabia International Award, organized by Dubai Quality Group, in the Sustainability category through the initiative,“Implementation of Sustainable Artificial Intelligent Solution in Waste Water Treatment/Recycling Process for Optimizing Energy Consumption at Jebel Ali Plant.” The initiative aims to implement a smart and innovative system that allows control and adjustment of the level of aeration of treated wastewater automatically, which contributes to improving the quality of the water produced after treatment.

UAE Ideas Award:
Dubai Municipality won the UAE Ideas Award, organized by the Dubai Quality Group, in the category,  Creativity in the Field of Inventions for its initiative,“the largest constructed building in the world using 3D printing technology.” The initiative aims to print 25% of Dubai's buildings using 3D printing technology. The strategy also aims to harness this promising technology to serve humanity, and to strengthen the position of the UAE and Dubai as a leading center in the region and the world in the field of 3D printing.

Adam Smith International Award
Dubai Municipality, represented by the Finance Department, won the Adam Smith International Award for the best solution to simplify operations in the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable process through the project to improve work procedures in the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable places. The award highlights the best innovative solutions in the field of cash and simplification of procedures and financial operations, which enhances and achieves the strategic objectives of the Municipality, the most important of which are, Objective No. 3 of managing assets and financial resources efficiently, as well as Objective No. 4 of instill a culture of pioneership and corporate governance, in addition to achieving the Municipality’s financial strategic directions.
