Iraq: Bomb blast leaves 2 dead

(MENAFN) The Iraqi military stated that on Sunday, Jun. 20 a farmer and his son lost their lives in a roadside bomb blast in southern part of Iraq’s capital Baghdad, while a rocket was launched on a center that has U.S. forces in western Iraq but did not blow up.

A report by the Iraqi Joint Operations Command (JOC) said that the first assault took place when an improvised explosive device exploded close to the farmer's home in a village.

JOC noted in another report that, the Iraqi forces conducted a probe into a Katyusha rocket that settled in the Ayn al-Asad Air Base in Anbar province without blasting or leading to losses.

It noted that the rocket was launched from a locale close to the town of al-Baghdadi, around 190 km northwest of the capital.
