Doha: Driven by a resolve to serve the country and ensure the best for citizens and residents alike, Qatar’s development has recorded a meteoric rise over the last decade. In a meeting with the Editors-in-Chief of Qatari newspapers, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, reiterated Qatar’s commitment to establishing a sustainable society, fair and inclusive participation in government.
Consequently, diplomatic missions in Qatar have hailed the announcement made by the Prime Minister that Qatar will provide one million vaccines for fans attending the FIFA World Cup 2022. The envoys also commented on Qatar’s economic, infrastructural and social growth powered by the Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV 2030) and its preparations for the 2022 World Cup.
Commenting on the meeting of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani with the Editors-in-Chief of the Qatar newspapers, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the State of Qatar H E Zhou Jian said that the Prime Minister interview is an inspiring and encouraging statement.
''We are glad to see that under the leadership of His Highness the Amir, Qatar has made steadfast achievement in various fields including pandemic control, economic development, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 preparations and improving administrative competencies,” the Ambassador said.
Speaking to The Peninsula, he said that these have all demonstrated Qatar Government’s responsibilities to the people and its commitment to the world.
''It also shows that Qatar has successfully explored a development path that suits its national conditions. As a strategic partner and good friend, we would like to express our sincere congratulations, and our hope for greater achievement in Qatar’s future development, which will bring new impetus to China-Qatar relations, the Ambassador added.
H E Zhou Jian noted: ''Qatar’s success could serve as an example for developing countries on its way towards modernization, and also a contributive force for the stability and development of the region.”
Ambassador of Pakistan to Qatar, H E Syed Ahsan Raza Shah has also lauded the legislative, administrative and electoral decisions taken by the Government of the State of Qatar towards fulfillment of the objectives enunciated in Qatar National Vision 2030. ''The vision of His Highness the Amir of Qatar heralds not just prosperity and development of Qatar but also the region at large,” he added.
On the statements of H E the Prime Minister made during his meeting with Qatari media professionals, Ambassador of Pakistan appreciated the incredibly successful and effective measures undertaken by the State of Qatar to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
''Equal access was granted to citizens and expatriates alike to the facilities, both at the preventative and treatment stages, during the pandemic. It is indeed gratifying that Qatar arranged the best available vaccines and then made them equally available for all residents of the country,” he said, expressing gratitude to the Qatari government on behalf of the Pakistani community in this regard.
The Ambassador of Pakistan expressed the hope that the successful measures would Inshallah soon lead to a significant easing of quarantine restrictions for passengers from Pakistan. ''Pakistan has also effectively dealt with the COVID-19 situation leading to a drastic reduction in the number of daily cases and in limiting the variants of coronavirus from affecting Pakistan.”
Ambassador commended the State of Qatar for completing all infrastructure projects well in advance of timeline expressing Pakistan’s unflinching support to Qatar for successful holding of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Ambassador of South Africa to Qatar, H E Faizel Moosa, has said that Qatar remains highly committed to delivering a hugely successful 2022 World Cup event under the wise patronage of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. ''Qatar remained focused on its 2022 World Cup ambitions even as the world battled against the coronavirus pandemic.”
''As the Prime Minister of Qatar indicated recently, Qatar is on schedule regarding the delivery of the stadiums and the necessary infrastructure to deliver the best 2022 World Cup event of all times.”
He added: ''To this end, Qatar will also be administering vaccinations to those fans coming to visit its shores for this event. As South Africa also hosted a hugely successful 2010 World Cup, it is clear that Qatar is well ahead, and I can see that they will deliver an event meeting and going beyond all expectations.”
