Yemen: Houthi militia starts assault at Saudi airport

(MENAFN) Yemen's Houthi militia stated that they started two bomb-laden drones toward the Saudi international airport of Abha at noon on Thursday, June 17.

Houthi military spokesperson Yehya Sarea revealed in a report aired by the rebel-run al-Masirah TV that "The armed drones hit military targets inside the airport".

In the meantime, Saudi-owned Alarabiya TV revealed that the Saudi air defenses stopped and obliterated a bomb-laden drone that the Houthi militia started toward the Saudi southwestern city of Khamis Mushait.

The Iran-backed Houthi group has intensified cross-border projectile and drone assaults on Saudi Arabia since February when the group started a large offensive against the Saudi-back Yemeni government army to imprison the oil-rich province of Marib in central Yemen, which hosts almost 2 million internally relocated persons.
