Saudi Arabia suffers 15 new deaths with coronavirus


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, June 16 (KUNA) -- Saudi Arabia recorded on Wednesday 15 deaths with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) along with 1,239 newly listed infections with the germ past hours.
Saudi Ministry of Health said in its daily pandemic report that the death toll related to the respiratory disease climbed to 7,621 and the caseload to 469,414 since the disease emerged in the kingdom more than a year ago.
The UAE reported four deaths due to coronavirus (COVID-19) and 2,011 infections within the last 24 hours.
The UAE health authorities announced that the tally of infections hit 603,961 cases, while deaths went up to 1,738.
The recoveries'' total reached around 583,115 with 1,976 new cases, the UAE health authorities revealed.
In Muscat, the Omani Ministry of Health said in a statement that 26 covid patients gave up struggle against the germ and 2,142 persons were added to the list of those contaminated with the communicable disease.
Official Oman News Agency, citing a ministry statement, said the whole number of the deaths due to the pandemic in the sultanate swelled to 2,591 and the infection cases to 240,708.
These three countries are member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) which also includes Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain. The regional bloc was set up in 1981.
The GCC countries have been battling the pandemic since it spilled over into the region with a series of precautions and vaccination campaigns. (end)
