Iraq: Drone assaults military center at Baghdad airport


(MENAFN) Security sources stated that on Monday, Jun. 14 a drone hit aimed at a military base that includes U.S. forces in the Baghdad International airport area, without causing any losses.

Sources said to Xinhua on condition of remaining anonymous that the drone fired bombs during the early hours of the day, hitting the outer fence of the military center.

A report by the Iraqi Joint Operations Command said that on Wednesday night, three drones hit the military base at Baghdad airport, and one of the drones was brought down.

No group has assumed accountability for the assault. Iraqi military centers that include U.S. troops over Iraq and the U.S. embassy in the Green Zone have been constantly aimed at by mortar and rocket assaults.
