Beirut: Commander of the Lebanese Army General H E Joseph Aoun expressed thanks and gratitude to the State of Qatar for the valuable assistance and the generous support for Lebanon in the wake of the explosion of Beirut Port, and for its constant standing by the Lebanese people.
This came during his meeting yesterday with Director-General of Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) H E Khalifa Jassim Al Kuwari, in the presence of Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Lebanon H E Mohammed Hassan Jaber Al Jaber.
The meeting was attended by a delegation of QFFD; Faisal Mohammed Al Emadi, representing Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS); Nawaf Abdullah Al Hammadi, representing Qatar Charity; and Ali Al Mutawa, counselor at the Qatari Embassy in Lebanon.
Commander of the Lebanese Army General Joseph Aoun said that the visit of QFFD delegation is highly appreciated in light of the crucial circumstances that Lebanon is going through, and it is the best evidence of Qatar’s keenness on Lebanon and the Lebanese people.
For his part, Director-General of Qatar Fund for Development H E Khalifa Jassim Al Kuwari reiterated Qatar’s support to Lebanon, and asserted that QFFD will implement the announced development, educational and health projects, in implementation of the directives of H H the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, allocating $50m to support the brotherly Lebanese people, during Paris conference.
During the meeting, senior officers in the Lebanese Army Command reviewed the results of the restoration and reconstruction process in the Beirut area affected by the port explosion, the tasks of the Army Command in this context, the work mechanism and the distribution of aid to those affected.
