Israeli security guard kills Palestinian woman at West Bank checkpoint


(MENAFN) The Israeli police stated that on Saturday, Jun. 12 A Palestinian woman, aged 28, was gunned down by an Israeli security guard at the Qalandiya checkpoint in the West Bank.

The police said that the woman, a resident of the Palestinian refugee camp Aqabat Jaber close to the city of Jericho, came near the vehicles traversing at the checkpoint manned by Israeli frontier police and civilian security guards, and ran in their direction with a knife in her hand.

A civilian guard shot several bullets at the woman after she continued to come closer without paying attention to the guard's warning calls on her to stop. Medical staff who reached the spot later confirmed the woman's death.

The Palestinian woman was reportedly recognized with Gaza's ruling movement Hamas and had been sent to jail in 2016-2018 for a knifing endeavor.
