Rise witnessed in number of operating U.S. drilling rigs this week


(MENAFN) On Friday, Jun. 11 the weekly figures issued by Houston-based oilfield services firm Baker Hughes showed that the number of operating drilling rigs in the United States soared five to 461 rigs in the present week, a rise by 182 annually.

These operating drilling rigs comprised 365 oil rigs functioning in the U.S. oil fields, a climb by six from the prior week; 96 gas drilling rigs, a decrease by one from the prior week. There was no miscellaneous rig.

The 461 rigs comprised 447 land drilling rigs, a rise by five from the prior week. There was one inland water rig and 13 offshore drilling rigs, both the same as the past week.

Amongst them, 420 are horizontal drilling rigs, 17 are vertical drilling rigs and 24 are directional drilling rigs.
