Lebanon expresses gratitude to Iraq for doubling crude supply amidst repeated power cuts


(MENAFN) The National News Agency said in a report that on Wednesday, Jun. 9 Lebanon's House Speaker Nabih Berri thanked Iraq for its conclusion to raise its annual crude oil supply for Lebanon from 500,000 tons to 1 million tons.

1 million tons of crude oil is enough to fulfill half of the country’s yearly necessity, stated Berri in a letter to Iraq’s Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi.

He added: "on my behalf, and on the behalf of Lebanon's parliament and the Lebanese people, I extend my heartfelt thanks to Iraqi president, government, parliament and people."

The Iraqi crude oil support for Lebanon was first concurred upon in a new visit to Iraq by Lebanese caretaker Energy Minister Raymond Ghajar.
