ANANTNAG: Director General, Youth Services and Sports, Dr. Saleem ur Rehman on Saturday said that Anantnag district will get an AstroTurf stadium soon for national and international sports events.
He told reporters during his visit to Nowgam Shangus Anantnag Playing Field, which is being to upgraded to a full Stadium.
AstroTurf or artificial turf is a surface of synthetic fibers made to look like natural grass. It is often used in arenas and stadiums for sports that are normally played on grass.
The DG impressed upon the District Youth Services and Sports officer, Anantnag to frame new estimates for different indoor and outdoor sports that can be made available for the players hailing from rural areas on this ground.
He appreciated the skills and talent of employees of Sports department and Health and Family Welfare for doing their work with interest and dedication in challenging COVID-19 times.
Dr Saleem was accompanied by Joint Director Sports, Kashmir Division, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Anantnag, Chief Accounts Officer Youth Services and Sports, Kashmir Division and officials of Directorate and other allied departments. (KNS)
