Iraq, Denmark discuss economic cooperation


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD, June 6 (KUNA) -- Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi and Denmark's Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod discussed economic cooperation and fighting terrorism on Sunday, during the latter's visit to Baghdad.
A government statement said the two sides also discussed boosting investment in industry, agriculture, trade and clean energy, as well as in fighting the so-called Islamic State (IS) and facing the COVID-19 pandemic.
Al-Kadhimi applauded Denmark's decision to re-open its embassy in Baghdad, as part of the deep ties between the two countries. He noted that he looks forward to the European and Danish role in supporting the upcoming Iraqi elections.
On his part, Kofod said his country is committed to supporting Iraq, especially after receiving leadership of the NATO mission in Iraq. he added that Denmark will aid Iraq in boosting security and military training. (end)
