Arab Championship: Qatari shooters continue to impress

Cairo: The Qatar shooting team continued to impress by adding another medal to their tally at the 2021 Arab Shooting Championship yesterday as the men's skeet team finished third in the final which took place in Cairo. 

Qatar's Rashid Saleh Al Athba, Masoud Saleh Al Athba and Ali Al Ishaq  won the bronze medal in the team  event which was won by the Kuwaiti shooters. Saudi Arabia won the silver medal.

The skeet competition witnessed a fierce competition between the top teams,  and the bronze winners thanked the Qatar Shooting & Archery Association for the support extended by them.

Masoud said that the Association and the  Qatar Olympic Committee's support helped them to perform well and achieve podium wins.

Rashid praised the great effort made by Masoud and Ali and said that they always aim to win medals so that they are able to raise the flag of Qatar in such major events.

"Tomorrow we are preparing for the mixed competitions. Our ambition is to win more medals, especially as we continue with the program of international tournaments with the help of the Association

Ibrahim Al Mohannadi, member of the National Teams Committee, the chef de Mission, praised the efforts of the Qatari shooters and hailed their impressive results yesterday.

"The tournament included many athletes who have already qualified for the upcoming Olympics, so the competition was very tough. But our shooters performed exceptionally well. This tournament is an opportunity for our athletes to add more experiences and confidence that they aspire to gain," Al Mohannadi said.

Earlier, on Friday, Qatar shooting team opened its campaign in the Championship by winning a gold medal and a silver. Prominent Qatari shooter Reem Al Sharshani clinched the gold medal in the women skeet event, as her team-mate, Rashid Saleh Al Ezbah grabbed the silver medal in the Men skeet event.

More than 300 shooters (Men and Women), representing 12 Arab teams are competing in the Arab  Championship.
