Rise witnessed in Canadian industrial product, raw resources price indexes in April


(MENAFN) On Monday, May. 31 Statistics Canada reported that the prices for products made in Canada, as calculated by the Industrial Product Price Index (IPPI), increased 1.6 percent month over month during April.

April witnessed the IPPI's fifth straight month-on-month rise. Ruling out energy and petroleum produce, the IPPI climbed 1.8 percent. Of the 21 key commodity groups, 18 soared and three decreased.

Year over year, the IPPI jumped 14.3 percent, its ninth consecutive increase. Prices for energy and petroleum produce, which climbed 78.4 percent, were on the lead in the rise.

In the meantime, the prices of raw resources bought by manufacturers working in Canada, as calculated by the Raw Materials Price Index (RMPI), soared 1 percent on the basis of month-on-month during April and 56.4 percent in comparison with April last year.
