India: Wholesale inflation increases to 10.49 percent

(MENAFN)According to statistics issued by the federal ministry of commerce and industry on Monday, May 17, India's wholesale price index (WPI) augmented to 10.49 percent in April 2021 compared to 7.39 percent in March.

The higher rate of inflation was mostly accredited to the increase in prices of crude petroleum, mineral oils counting petrol, diesel along with others, and manufactured goods compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, a report released by the ministry added.

The monthly rate of inflation, based on month over month movement of the WPI index, in April hit 1.86 percent (provisional) compared to March, the ministry revealed.
