Israel''s provocations behind the current crisis

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani has said that the current crisis in Palestine is created by Israel's provocative approach of grabbing new neighbourhoods, besieging Al Aqsa Mosque with an aim of not including those lands in any future solutions.

He said that he is against violence from any side. ''We do not blame Hamas or Iran for this crisis, but it was Israel that attempted to take new neighbourhoods, besieged Al Aqsa Mosque, and cut off new lands, with an aim of not including them in any future solutions. That Israel wants a solution without including these lands in future. This is the main cause of the problem. The reason is the policy that Israel follows and provocative actions it takes by entering Al Aqsa Mosque.”

Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani said that Qatar tried to help the Palestinian and Israeli sides to reach understandings on many issues. ''Now there is Qatari and Egyptian diplomatic activity to calm down and this is what was announced by the American side.”

In an interview with RT Arabic yesterday, H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani explained that those who ''mourn about the violence between the Palestinians and the Israelis must consider causes behind it and they will find that the Netanyahu government is the one behind this violence.”

Sheikh Hamad called for peaceful Palestinian action to confront the Israeli actions. He added that Arab attitudes towards the recent acts of violence in Palestine ''varied between those who call for reconciliation and those who go along with the current situation,” noting that the Arab countries were not at the same level of discontent and the required work.

He said that the statements issued by most Arab countries and some Arab condemnations are aimed only at ''preserving the chairs of rulers and absorb the local anger, save the face of the Arab rulers, and show them that they support the Palestinian cause”.

Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim emphasised that there are reactions in some Arab countries regarding position on the Palestinian issue and the issue of Jerusalem is one of it.

He added, ''Israel knows that there is no Arab seriousness to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.” He noted that there is ''Arab failure” towards the Palestinian issue, adding that he had expected that there would be coordinated Arab action and support for the Palestinians and the Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs at the United Nations and others.

Sheikh Hamad said that he does not object to ''establishing relations and understandings with Israel, but these understandings must be based on the foundations of international resolutions, at least to solve this issue.”

''If normalization is in the interest of the Palestinian cause, I welcome it. However, Arab understandings and normalization are taking place far from the main issue, which is the Palestinian issue.”

He said that there is the King Abdullah initiative that talks about a complete Arab situation and defines how to deal with Israel and normalise relations with it. ''Perhaps at least we should discuss serious Arab-Israeli talks to put an end to this 70-year-old tragedy. At least we take into account what has been internationally recognized not what Israel wants.”

He noted, ''What we hear of solutions and peace from Israel now comes with its terms and not what international resolutions or Arab states’ conditions.”  The Arab League, he said, even in ordinary meetings, strive hard to deliver speeches that satisfy the members.

H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani said: ''The Arab League has no role. Even on the Iranian nuclear issue, we were supposed to take part but there is no Arab League that fulfils the aspirations of the Arab citizens and it did not have a role in any crisis in the region.”

He added: ''The role of the American administration is important but the most important is the Arab and Palestinian countries, and the American administration will look at the issue if there is someone who seriously demands his rights. The American administration needs someone to seriously engage with it, and America is talking with Iran because it is a serious party.”

''We must create a situation that makes an American work to solve the Arab issue in a just and serious manner, but the current Arab situation is not helpful to achieve this.”

To another question he said that any Saudi-Iranian agreement is important for the problematic region and will help calm and solve problems and disagreements in it.

''There are many issues that Iran has a role in like Yemeni, Syrian, and Iraqi issues, and the nuclear issue. There is a need to reach an agreement with Iran about these issues but with a strategic vision, and the Gulf Cooperation Council must be a part in resolving these issues, and Iran must realise that this understanding is in its favor.”

He said many Arab countries have contacts with Syria and there are Arab countries that have restored their relations with Syria but without conditions such as returning the displaced, pardoning prisoners, releasing politicians, and reaching a solution in exchange for restoring relations. ''How relations can be restored without any solution to these problems that made Syrian people revolt against the regime?” he questioned.
