China: Hundreds of suspects detained for attacking police

(MENAFN) On Monday, May. 17 the top procuratorate stated that in the first month since a new adjustment to China's Criminal Law started on March 1, which bans aggressive attacks against police officers on duty, an overall of 405 suspects in this regard have been detained.

Case statistics issued by the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) showed that an overall of 101 suspects have been charged.

The SPP analysis discovered that the majority of these cases included minor aggression, and there were close relations between these assaults and drunkenness.

The SPP figures showed that these breaches generally occurred while the suspects were trying to get in the way of police enforcement. After recovering, most of the suspects expressed regret.
