Egypt will "spare no effort" to achieve truce in Gaza

(MENAFN) On Sunday, May. 16 Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stated that his nation will try hard to achieve a truce in the Palestinian enclave of Gaza Strip.

Shoukry said to a United Nations Security Council meeting via videoconference on the current Israeli assaults in the Gaza Strip: "Egypt will support peace efforts until the Palestinian people obtain their legitimate rights and the region enjoys the stability that all our peoples seek."

He stressed that the Israeli military drive endangers the prospect of peace and stability in the region, urging the UN Security Council to assume its accountability to stop the ongoing conflict.

The Egyptian minister stated that there can be no peace in the region without finding a fair and sustainable resolution to the Palestinian struggle, emphasizing that "the solution is the two-state solution that is acceptable to all parties."
