Huge response to Katara''s Eid Al Fitr online activities

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) yesterday successfully concluded its Eid Al Fitr online activities, which met with warm response from citizens and residents who actively participated in the various competitions.

The contests, which were organised for four days starting from the first day of Eid Al Fitr, were conducted virtually via Katara’s official website and social media accounts in line with the safety measures being implemented by the state in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the unprecedented number of entries to the competition on the most beautiful Eid dress, Katara decided to increase the number of winners — from the previously announced six winners to 17.

The competition, which was held from the first to the third day of Eid Al Fitr, was open to boys and girls up to the age of 13.

Entries came in the form of high resolution photos of the children wearing their best Eid outfits submitted via WhatsApp. Katara allocated cash prizes of QR1,000 for each of the winners.

Many children also took part in the Question and Answer contest which was held all throughout the four days of Eid Al Fitr holidays.

The contest was done through Zoom and episodes were broadcast on Katara’s social media channels. The rise in the number of children who expressed interest to participate also prompted Katara to increase the number of participants to be accommodated in each episode of the contest. They were awarded QR500 each.

For the Congratulations on Eid contest, entries were in the form of Eid greetings and congratulations in Arabic or English language posted on Katara’s Instagram account.

Two winners were chosen every day during the first three days of Eid and each of the winners were awarded QR1,000.

Many people also enjoyed the spectacular virtual fireworks display presented online during four days of Eid Al Fitr. They were shown twice daily on Katara’s website and social media channels.

The events that Katara launched during Eid Al Fitr were warmly welcomed and widely received by Katara visitors, demonstrated by the great response and social media interactions as visitors took photos of the happy and precious moments they spent during their visit at Katara during the holidays which they enthusiastically shared on Katara’s Instagram account.
