Saudi ready meals market stands at USD18.18Min 2020

(MENAFN)A report by US-based research company Reportlinker showed that the Saudi ready meals market stood at USD18.18 million in 2020 and is predict to increase at an average yearly volume of 5.43 percent over the coming five years.

It further stated that “During COVID-19, individuals in Saudi Arabia exceeded their needs and rushed to buy and stock up on groceries as they feared food insecurity. Among Saudi consumers, stress-eating became very common due to lockdown.” Because of the end of supermarkets at certain periods in the pandemic, online shopping turned into a necessity and this supported the increase in demand for ready meals, the report added.

It also declared that “In emerging markets, like the Middle East, a relatively increasing disposable income is creating a new class, which is eager to experience new goods and services.”

Arab News quoted Ahmad BinDawood, CEO of BinDawood Holding, one of Saudi Arabia’s biggest supermarket operators as saying that regardless of concerns of food lack in western countries, this was not the case in the Kingdom.
