UN chiefs expresses worry over civilian losses, demolition of media offices in Gaza

(MENAFN) On Saturday, May. 15 UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed worry over civilian losses and the demolition of media offices in Gaza by Israel, according to his spokesperson Stephane Dujarric.

Dujarric noted in a report that the secretary-general is shocked by the growing number of civilian deaths, comprising the loss of 10 members of the same family, because of an Israeli air raid on Friday evening in the al-Shati camp in Gaza.

The report noted that the secretary-general is also profoundly troubled by the demolition by an Israeli air raid on Saturday of a high-rise building in Gaza City that included the offices of a number of international media organizations along with residential apartments.

It added that Guterres reminds all sides that any random targeting of citizens and media structures breaches international law and must be averted at all costs.
