Explosion inside a mosque claim lives, wounds many: Kabul

Despite observing Eid’s ceasefire by the Afghan government and the Taliban, at least 12 people were killed and more than 20 others are injured in an explosion inside a Mosque in the Shakardara district of Kabul province.

The incident occurred on Friday afternoon at Haji Bakhshi Mosque in Qala-e-Murad Bek in Shakardara district, police told media.

Security sources told the media that the imam of the mosque “Mufti Noman” was killed and that the bomb was placed inside the worshiping premises.

Preliminary reports indicated, at least four people were killed in the blast.

No group or individual claimed responsibility for the attack.

The blast happened amid three days of ceasefire between the Afghan forces and the Taliban.

On the first day of Eid, at least nine people were killed and more than a dozen others were wounded in two separate explosions in Kandahar and Kunduz provinces.
